Triage Clinical Advisor Vacancy

(Physiotherapist, Paramedic, Nurse)

Due to continuing success and expansion we are looking to recruit 2 additional Triage Clinical Advisors within our friendly and supportive team.

Full-time role: 35 hours per week 9am – 5pm (Monday – Friday). Applications from those seeking part-time hours will be considered.

As part of our national medico-legal rehabilitation service, clients referred to us for physiotherapy undergo an initial telephone triage assessment. The role will suit physiotherapists, paramedics, or nurses who have a keen interest in the management of musculoskeletal injuries which result from a traumatic event such as a road traffic collision or accident at work.

Job Description

To provide an efficient and professional rehabilitation triage service, as part of the clinical team, for patients referred to On Medical by clients in the legal and insurance sectors. The role involves the following:

  • Undertake thorough and detailed telephone triage assessments. Utilise clinical reasoning skills, and evidence-based information, protocols and guidelines where available to assess rehabilitation needs and identify the most appropriate care pathway.
  • Use case management software to complete accurate, comprehensive, contemporaneous Triage Assessment Reports in line with regulatory and professional standards of practice and company policy. Records will be subject to internal audit procedures.
  • Screen for Red Flags and provide appropriate advice regarding urgent referral to AEU or GP.
  • Exercise a professional duty of care and ensure all advice given at triage is within professional scope of practice.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner whilst receiving support and clinical supervision from senior colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, relatives & carers, colleagues, clients and other Health Care Professionals, using a variety of mediums to deliver information and professional advice.
  • Responsible for organising own workload, including administrative tasks, diary management and timekeeping, ensuring the triage service operates smoothly and efficiently.
  • Ensure any required clinical outcome and statistical data is collated and documented accurately on a day to day basis.
  • Utilise patient satisfaction, peer review, and audit to inform and continually develop practice and improve service delivery.
  • Demonstrate competency to practice through CPD activities and maintain a portfolio, in line with regulatory and professional requirements, which reflects personal development.
  • Attend in-service training sessions and be willing to play an active part in contributing to the in-service programme by sharing knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Contribute pro-actively towards service improvements by sharing service development ideas with colleagues and management and by embracing change.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements, professional standards, and company policies. Demonstrate professional, confidential, and ethical behaviours at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with Information Security Policies including data confidentiality and the operational security of the Information Systems used.
  • Any ad hoc or additional duties as deemed fit and appropriate by the Management Team for this post and the associated level of responsibility attached to it.

Person Specification

The successful candidate must commit to upholding the company’s core values, Integrity, Respect, Loyalty and Reliability and ensure that they are demonstrated throughout their working practice. You should also possess the relevant attributes and experience outlined below:

  • Relevant Degree within Physiotherapy, Nursing or Paramedic.
  • Appropriate enhanced DBS check and registered HCPC.
  • Time management and organisation and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work towards shared goals and objectives.
  • Experience of demonstrating effective teamworking within a commercial environment.
  • Cooperative and flexible approach.
  • Ability to identify where problems may arise and adopt a solution-focused approach.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • IT literate.
  • Commitment to own personal development.
